DRIVE for 25– This amazing push for supporting US athletes by the National Nordic Foundation has done some amazing things to progress Nordic Sports in the US along with supporting up and coming young athletes. Once again this year we will be running a DRIVE for 25 Promotion at the shop.
Details: Come in to Out There Nordic and try on a pair of the Madshus Super NANO Skate or Classic Boot or the Nano Skate or Classic boot and we will donate $10 per person to Hailey Swirbul’s Fundraising Page. Come into the shop and purchase a pair of Madshus Redline Skate, Classic or Skin skis and we will donate $20 per pair towards Hailey’s page. in 2016 we raised $935 so lets see what we can do in 2018!!!
This Season instead of us creating a Drive for 25 page we are going to ask that you give to our friend Hailey Swirbul’s page All of the funds from what we will raise from our Drive for 25 promo will go to this same page.
This is where it begins. The passion, the love, the culture of American skiing that’s grown over the last half decade is because of a big push, an effort together. We’re no longer a collection of disparate skiers trying to succeed in the skiing world, rather a unified community exploring what is possible. We believe in American Nordic skiing. You believe in American Nordic skiing. Help to support tomorrow’s American nordic stars today.
- What: American cross country skiers, fans, and enthusiasts supporting our nation’s developing skiers.
- When: Now through November
- Why: We have improved from a nation that seldom put a skier in the top 15 on the World Cup to a Nation with World Champions and a World Cup Champion. Yet as a nation our developing athletes struggle to afford the racing opportunities required to compete among the best.
- Who: You. The NNF is stepping up. The NNF is possible because of you.

A number of years ago a Brain Halligan started a project with his company Kick Zone Media
Brian has done loads of interviews with lots of great people in the Nordic Community. Many Team Out There Athletes have been on the Podcast. A couple of weeks ago he reached out and said “I want to hear the Out There Story”
Inspired by the love of the outdoors, hear how Bjorn Hanson’s little ski shop in Wisconsin has created a world wide family of athletes.
Madshus- Changing the game again!
US Ski Team Athlete Hailey Swirbul sums it up in a recent message from her
“I’ve got my new fleet! I have been testing on the glacier and am absolutely loving them”
The Red Line 2.0s will have totally redesigned geometry and side cuts – especially the skating version 2.0 where geometry changes the company describes as “revolutionary”.
RL 2.0 will have totally new base material. No, there still will be old good Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWP) more commonly ( if wrongly) called P-Tex. The properties of the new base, however, will be very different to what we all are used to, Madshus says .
Perhaps, more significantly, for the first time in many years ( and please correct us if we are wrong here) any ski manufacturer would use for its top model UHMWP not supplied by storied Austrian Isosport!
Per Wiik, Madshus marketing & racing department boss says “We looking into very limited quantity introduction for loyal dealers with racing focus for late fall 2018” Translation: if you are one of those people who absolutely must have the latest & best, start schmoozing your local dealer already now!
The rest of the folk would see the RedLine 2.0 in the fall of 2019.
Want to get yours? Pre-Order commitment by Sept. 5th for Nov-Dec 18 Delivery

This summer our Coach Kris ventured EAST once again to coach at the GMVS (Green Mountain Valley School) Summer Camp. This year along with her went Coach Michael Young from the Great Lakes along with 4 Wisconsin athletes and one Michigan athlete. The trip helped grow these young athletes ability to travel, meet and train with athletes from other parts of the US and around the world. (A number of athletes from the Italian Ski school – OSZ Mals) This Year they had the opportunity once again to participate in a training day at the Jericho Roller Ski Track as well as the APP Gap Challenge, one of the races in the NENSA Roller Ski Race Series.
Along with many days of great training in beautiful Northern Vermont they also were able to participate in a day of skiing and seeing how their times stack up against Ludvig Jensen – @Luddeyo the World’s Fastest 100m Nordic Skier.
Be ready as you never know what NEW Training Opportunities may lie Out There!
