Ski from trees raise monies

This past weekend a longtime Nordic coach and friend gave us a wonderful pair of Madshus Birkebeiners 215cm with  lignostone edges as well. They need some love. So we will be restoring them fully along with new tar & wax**. We will then offer them up on Auction. From May 8th – 12th at http://www.ebay.com/itm/Madshus-Birkebeiners-215cm-/192174731559?roken=cUgayN

Proceeds will then be donated to the Club in which this coach works with in the UP of Michigan.

** The skis have 3 pin bindings currently. Post Auction we will contact the winner to see if they want different bindings. (additional fees may apply)

Do not miss the Deer Fly Chase on SATURDAY OCTOBER 3rd.  So mark your calendars and plan to race (or volunteer)!!

The course will be as epic as ever — outstanding terrain, a mix of gravel roads, ski trails and the best singletrack around (new singletrack every year, that’s our promise to you).

IMBA Trail Care Crew

The Trail has been started and a GREAT 3 day event was held.

Here is the Event recap from Lani & Jordan

With the continued growth of the sport of mountain biking, trails have the potentail to become greater community assets for many reasons. Trails have the potential to bring new faces to town from not only a tourism standpoint but also from a relocation one. Mountain bikers and other trail based recreationist’s value trail access as an important component to a housing purchase. In Rice Lake, WI this past weekend we were greeted by many enthusiastic residents and community officials interested in local trail development. “I moved back here because of the potential access the area provides.” Explained local rider, “Our house is located a few minutes away from the county forest and I have been walking around out there just dreaming of the trails we could build out there.”

CORBA comes to Barron County

Starting this May ~ A New Mountain Bike/Running Trail system will begin construction in the Rice Lake Area. CORBA (Chippewa Off Road Bike Assoc.) http://chippewaoffroad.org/ will begin construction along with Local Riders & Runners to create Barron Counties First Single Track trail system. A number of Local folks have been working on this over the past few years and in 2014 Great conversations began with CORBA. After just over a year of efforts this is now coming to fruition. This new trail system will be located on the Pipestone Quarry Property east of Rice Lake. The initial layout calls for 3 loops totaling approx. 10 miles of singletrack. Stay tuned for more info coming soon.

Over 150 athletes from 20 countries are expected to compete in the event between 23 January – 1 February 2015 which will be staged on the very same trail system where the first able-bodied cross-country skiing World Cup was born in 1978.
