The Culture of Nordic

What hampers the Growth of the Sports we love in our Country?
Culture!
Having Nordic be apart of my everyday life for over 40 years has given me the opportunity while here in the US, In Norway & other places to see it from many sides. When we look at Nordic Skiing as a Sport or by the way of a lifestyle the Norwegians have it knocked. No this is not a political rant, but in a country where you have a Socialized Democracy folks are often looking to the Overall and not the few. Occasionally our Rugged Independence may get the better of us as far as how to Growing Nordic.
We need to remember that we are are fortunate to be able to Dream, set goals and work towards them. Along the way there can be changes in the direction of those goals & dreams but that does not me the values at the core of those thoughts is not a worth one. Creating a Lifestyle based around the things we love will foster the sport to grow. Yes over time Coaches will work with promising young athletes who may decide to take a different sport or academic path. Does this mean they have failed as a coach? Hell no, it means they gave opportunity to that young person and helped them on their journey. Does it mean the athlete failed? MOST Certainly NOT! It meant that they were given the chance to see if skiing or hockey or running or band or math was what they are truly passionate about.
Remember that Culture is about it’s PEOPLE!
Make sure you represent it well!

Custom… It’s what we do!

So this is a slogan we have used in our other business Burnell’s Decor for over four decades. “Custom… It’s what we do!” For now over a decade (crazy to think it has gone that fast) It is something we do in the Nordic World as well. Be it from Customizing the Skis, Boots & Poles to best fit your needs as well as gear, training camps, etc. If there is something you as an individual skier, a Jr Team or beyond need to fill a niche you have… Then we are Out There to help make that happen.
