So over the last few season’s after Karhu stopped their Trail Shoe we have been testing & trying to find a good one…. Well we have. With this company making GREAT Shoes and being a sponsor for the Tuscobia WInter Ultra, the decision was easy. ALTRA
Along with that we are going to doing a few “PREP” Events for the Tuscobia WInter Ultra in the warmer season. We will be hosting in August & October (both dates TBA in the next week) a Get Out There & TRAIL RUN or RIDE Tuscobia event. With support from the IATA (Ice Age Trail Alliance – Local Chapter) SCRATCH Labs (oh that’s NEW also) and ALTRA we are lookign to get folks out on the trail to see if something like TWU is for them.

CORBA comes to Barron County
Starting this May ~ A New Mountain Bike/Running Trail system will begin construction in the Rice Lake Area. CORBA (Chippewa Off Road Bike Assoc.) http://chippewaoffroad.org/ will begin construction along with Local Riders & Runners to create Barron Counties First Single Track trail system. A number of Local folks have been working on this over the past few years and in 2014 Great conversations began with CORBA. After just over a year of efforts this is now coming to fruition. This new trail system will be located on the Pipestone Quarry Property east of Rice Lake. The initial layout calls for 3 loops totaling approx. 10 miles of singletrack. Stay tuned for more info coming soon.

We hosted a Fun little event with many of our customers. Stone Soup & Trail Run. We started with a Rock in a Pot and ended up with a Fantastic meal.

Birkie Trail Run & Trek Team fills!
With over 1 month to go our Birkie Trail Run & Trek Team fills! This being our 4th Year of Sponsorship we are excited to have such a Group of wonderful folks going to be Out There! 75 people will be at the events wearing their Out There Colors this year. Form 2 years ago with 30, last year with 50 and now 75. Nearly 8% of all the participants will be Out There. We have people in the Team Marathons (both 6 & 3 person teams), Individual Marathon, 1/2 Marathon, Nordic Walk (Trek), 6km and Youth events. There are many perks to being Out There for different events, in the future look to join us.

The David R. Obey Ice Age Interpretive Center is 7 miles east of New Auburn and 1.9 miles east of State Highway 40 on County Highway M.

The Chippewa Moraine Ice Age Recreation Area – Situated along the Ice Age Trail, visitors enjoy unspoiled beauty with kettle lakes and many glacial features. The interpretive center sits atop a hill that was once a glacial lake bottom.

Birkie Trail Run & Trek!
Wheew!
Yesterday was the Birkie Trail Run & Trek (www.birkie.org ) Another Fantastic event was put on. We had set a goal of 50 folks representing us Out There yesterday and the number was achieved. That gave us about 5% of the total participants were OUT THERE! A Huge Thanks is given to all of you for those that were there and all of you for supporting us in Getting People Out There! For 2014 we have put the challenge out ~ get 75 folks Out There. We are using our facebook page for much of the correspondence, although we want to let everyone know as many of the folks yesterday do not use FB. In the last hour we have already gotten the first 10 folks to commit. How fast can we get the next 65?

Also each year at the BTR&T We try to have a large showing of folks OUT THERE. Last year we sponsored a Relay team and others Out There Participating. 26 in total. Our goal for the 2013 Event is 50! The Relay Team is full. We will though support other Teams and participants in the events thru Out There Custom Tech Shirts for the events. So far this year we are already at 27 people (as of 4.1.13) Shirts and a good bag are limited to the first 50. So get your registration into the Birkie and let us know ( info@outthereshop.com ) which event you are participating in and that you want to GET OUT THERE. Chippewa 50K & 10K Trail Runs
