Out There Nordic

This summer a wonderful opportunity presented itself for athletes from the Midwest. Green Mountain Valley School (GMVS) in Waitsfield Vermont hosted a Summer Camp from July 31st- Aug 4th. This camp is geared for Young Athletes in the U14-U23 categories. This past March at the NENSA U16 Championships in Maine GMVS Nordic Director Colin Rodgers extended and invitation to our Coach Kris to bring a small group of athletes from the Midwest to the camp. Planning began in earnest in late March.

Well this past week our Coach Kris headed off with two Midwest athletes to the camp. Traveling from Wisconsin by car east. With visits to Niagara Falls along the way and a scenic drive thru the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York they arrives in Vermont.  With a full week of events the athletes came from across the New England, the Midwest & even Norway. From Fantastic OD runs at Sugarbush Resort, OD Rollerskis, Rollerski Agility work, Strength & Conditioning and a Rollerski TT at the Ethan Allen Biathlon Range in Jericho Vermont. Yes a TT on a ROLLERSKI Track! Participating also in the TT event were athletes from Mansfield Nordic & Craftsbury.

Now everyone has arrived back in the Midwest and the enthusiasm of the upcoming season is HIGH. Plans are already underway for the Summer 2018 event. For 2018 there will be the similar MAX number from the Midwest of 6 athletes, so if you would like to snag one of those spots let us know. Email us at GMVS Camp 18
