Birkie Trail Run & Trek!
Wheew!
Yesterday was the Birkie Trail Run & Trek (www.birkie.org ) Another Fantastic event was put on. We had set a goal of 50 folks representing us Out There yesterday and the number was achieved. That gave us about 5% of the total participants were OUT THERE! A Huge Thanks is given to all of you for those that were there and all of you for supporting us in Getting People Out There! For 2014 we have put the challenge out ~ get 75 folks Out There. We are using our facebook page for much of the correspondence, although we want to let everyone know as many of the folks yesterday do not use FB. In the last hour we have already gotten the first 10 folks to commit. How fast can we get the next 65?

Also each year at the BTR&T We try to have a large showing of folks OUT THERE. Last year we sponsored a Relay team and others Out There Participating. 26 in total. Our goal for the 2013 Event is 50! The Relay Team is full. We will though support other Teams and participants in the events thru Out There Custom Tech Shirts for the events. So far this year we are already at 27 people (as of 4.1.13) Shirts and a good bag are limited to the first 50. So get your registration into the Birkie and let us know ( info@outthereshop.com ) which event you are participating in and that you want to GET OUT THERE. Nordic Walk~ Birkie Trail “OO” North
Let’s Get Out There and get the Summer Nordic Walking Series going. This is the opening walk. We will start at “OO” Trailhead on the Birkie Trail and head North. Long Walk will be to High Point Food station and back. Others can take cut-offs at any point. We will plan to meet at the trail at 1pm. Long Walk normally goes about 3-3:30hrs For more details on the Nordic Walking Series:

5.3.13 Update location: We will meet at OO at 1pm. We will then head east approx 1.5 miles to the corner of OO and Telemark Rd. Park There and head North on Telemark Rd (Gravel) for the walk. If you want to ride up with us let us know by Saturday at 5pm via info@outthereshop.com
Nordic Walking Series~

- Join us for a Nordic walking series this year. Starting in May we will host one short walk and onetrail walk per month
- We will give away entries to the Birkie Trail Run & Trek ~ 5km, Trek, Half & Full Marathons
- Attend 4 of 8 Sessions and recieve a FREE Tech Shirt
- Dates TBA
- Cost: $20 for the entire series ~ Funds go to Entires to be give away to participants
- Short Walks will be held during the week. 1-3 miles in Rice Lake
- Long Walks will be held on weekends. 6-12 miles on the Birkie Trail
**Also if you are participating in one of the other BTR&T Events you are welcome to join in and get your training at the same time!

Well the Folks at the ABSF (www.birkie.com) have out done themselves once again. Groomers have worked hard to prep the “OO” lighted loops and to Boedecker & Back. With more snow in the forecast YOU need to Get Out There!

In 1973, the first year of the Birkie, cross country skiers were sporting the best athletic gear of the day–knickers, wooden skis, and bamboo poles.
Now is your chance to re-live that era by participating in the Birkie “Nikkerbeiner.” This retro 5K ski tour on wooden skis has been named after the Norwegian word for knickers. This event will take place on Main Street, Hayward, at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, February 21, prior to the Torch Lighting and Welcome Ceremony.
Tell us about the “old school” equipment and clothing you will be using for the event. This will give our announcer great commentary while you ski and help spectators judge the best retro outfits at the finish line.
